Metaphor of my Life

The source of light that sits on my writing desk is a beautiful, ornamental wooden lamp I bought at a yard sale. I chose the light for its beauty, not noticing that the shade will not sit straight.

No matter how I tighten the knob at the top, the shade will not sit right.

I hope this isn't a metaphor of my life: pretty but impossible to set right.
