My Book is Caught in a Black Hole

My book, Unimaginable: Volunteering for Ukrainian Refugees will not be released this summer.

#sob

So sad.

There has been a problem with the placement program I used: Vellum. The program updated while I was working on the book --w/o my permission, and I lost the finished file.

Yes. I have the book but will have to reformat the entire thing. I tried the usual but will have to start at zero and don't have forty hours right now to redo it.

I tried about thirty hours of work arounds... and managed to get a proof. The photos are terrible. The font is all wrong. The printer has dubbed it #junk and refuses to distribute it.

#ouch

All of that hard work...

Yes. I can rebuild. But not right now.

Need time.

Yes.

I keep reminding myself to breathe.

So all of my media appearances have been cancelled.

This has been crazy frustrating.

Vellum has been coaching me from afar, but a gone file is a gone file.

I have to start over. And won't have the time until September.

Sigh.

Thanks to all who were ready to buy.

Thanks to all who were ready to buy a case of books to hand out to friends.

If some magic happens before September, I will let you know.

Until then, I'm going to sulk for a few minutes, then continue packing.
